If you carried German Cockroaches (one of the most common species) or egg capsules with you - you could, within 4-6 weeks begin to see them. They have a rapid breeding cycle and over the counter "bombs" generally only kill those that the produce comes in contact with. Since German roaches are primarily nocturnal and they like to hide in cracks, crevices, and dark places...it is very likely that they could hitch a ride in your stuff to your new place.

If you didn't bring any boxes in the house that were in the storage unit, like ANY boxes, you might be off the hook. German roaches don't tolerate the cold! But they are excellent hitchers - so it depends on what you took from the unit to your new place.
References :
http://www.americanpest.net/resources/cockroaches/german-cockroach.asp

View http://www.garageplansforfree.com for albums of many shed building ideas. I know they have 8x8, 8x10, 10x12, 12x16, and 12x24 shed sizes but I do not see a 8x12 size.

You could build a plywood door yourself for a small shed. Check out discount home improvement stores clearance or scratch and dent sections for other deals.

Windows are nice for lighting, yet eliminate storage space for a small shed. For storage purposes I would consider leaving out a window on a 8x12 shed as the door open provides plenty of lighting.

For a customized plan check out your local building center.

Build it on a slab vs. wood. Run a conduit sleeve into the shed just in case you want lights or outlets in there later on. Make sure the slab if elevated enough for drainage and weed eater abuse. As mentioned by other contributor, go to HD or Lowe's and they have bins with unused special order and slightly damage doors and windows. Consider vinyl siding vs. wood siding, so there is no upkeep (painting/caulking) in the future. When I was younger (in carpentry) I tended to not use material I was unfamiliar with.
References :
remodel contractor

A WOODEN SHED IS CLASSED AS TEMPORY. THE ONLY REGULATIONS THAT APPLY ARE, AS DAFT AS IT SEEMS, THE SHED SHOULD NOT BE HIGHER THAN THE HOUSE ROOF, NOR SHOULD IT BE BUILT OVER A VICTORIAN SEWER.
References :
I AM CLEVER ASK ME ANOTHER.

Depends. Where do you live? Better go to the village offices, or county planning and find out before you build something that the law says you have to tear back down. There's usualloy a process. In our town you can't even put a fence up in the front.
References :
Before you start building it make sure it will be large enough. Building it in increments of 4' is perfect for applying siding panels and make sure it is tall enough to stand up in.

Here in Phoenix, we have a few kinds of roaches. In the garden in
one type, it's huge, fat, sometimes (rarely!) gets in under the door
or through the garage, but they soon die off w/o moisture, I think.

My Hispanic friend tells me the house roach is different from all
others. OK. They survive in Fairbanks in the heated sewers at
the Army Post next to town. They'll probably still be here when
all human inhabitants are gone from this planet.

So regarding your belongings: if they've been sitting out in the
shed awhile, then any eggs should have hatched by now (we
hope). Maybe you should put all of it into a tent/roll of plastic
film/ series of garbage sacks, whatever, and use roach bomb
again. Then wash all the clothes. You might be clear of bugs
then.
