Can southern roaches survive in a colder climate?

wood storage shed 5 Comments »

I just moved to Michigan from Mississippi, I had my belongings in a storage unit down there and realized it had gotten roaches in it. I bombed the unit before I brought all my stuff back. I would like to know if any survived the bombs if they could live in the cold up here considering the items are now in a shed with no heat. I believe there were regular roaches and "wood roaches".

Leave them outside when it’s minus 30, it will probably kill them.

spilled liquid cause mold?

wood storage shed 3 Comments »

i have a storage shed that is made of wood i dropped a cologne bottle and it broke and now the floor and wall is wet will this cause mold?

It’s unlikely since cologne usually has alcohol in it to help it dry quickly. It’s also not usually made of ingredients that feed mold, like a food product would. You’ll probably just have a strong-smelling shed, but hopefully it’s a smell you like :)

OOPS! 20 cans of spray paint won’t spray; what can I do???

wood storage shed 2 Comments »

They were in a box that got put in our outdoor storage shed by mistake. Now they have little lumps, and no matter how much I shake (stir) them, the nozzle keeps clogging. Is there ANYthing I can do to make the paint ok again? They are Krylon Satin Touch Designer Finish or Krylon Home Decor Latex; 12 oz (dries in 12 minutes or less) for inside and out, for use on wood, metal, plastic, wicker, etc. in 4 or 5 different colors) and I think the Arizona heat has ruined them! I really don’t want to have to pitch them. What can I do? Pleeeeese help.

Lots of shaking little mamma. Hoo ho lot of shakin’ going on. Thank You, thank you very much. Seriously, if you shake the devil out of the can and keep shaking them while you are using them they will work better. I would find some extre nozzles from other cans that work so you could switch them when they get clogged. Soak the clogged ones in a small jar of paint thinner for a while and they will work again.

Why do i have to poop when i go to my storage unit?

wood storage shed 6 Comments »

Every time i go to my storage unit it comes on like i havnt taken a crap in weeks, EVEN if i sit on the toilet prior to going to storage and I try to poop for 20 min and nothing comes out, but 1 min at storage and it materializes and i have to rush home. This ALSO happends every time i get on a internet cafe’ computer, or start walking through the woods. CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT?? ITS REALLY ANNOYING!!!!!

It could be stress.
The one thing all three of the examples you listed have in common is that they are all places where you can’t easily just "go" (which means that you are not in control of the situation and thereby get stressed and have to poop – or at least feel like you do). It is similar to a panic attack.

It’s not uncommon and may require therapy and/or medication if it gets worse and becomes a problem with you being able to do things in a normal manner.
Good Luck (and get help if and when you think you might need it).

I need an indestructable dog bed! I have two female pittbul/American bulldogs who chew and destroy dog beds!?

wood storage shed 5 Comments »

I have two female pit/american bulldogs who can tear up a blanket or dog bed in minutes. They are a little over 1 years old and nothing will get them to stop chewing! They have destroyed numerous dog beds and blankets and heavy bedspreads. They get plenty of excercise and attention and socialization, and we correct their bad behavior, but they just wont stop chewing. If anyone knows of a product that has helped them with a similar problem, please tell me. Just to get an idea of how good of chewers they are, they have ripped Kong toys up, they have ripped a soft crate, and they have ruined hoses and chewed out the wood bottom of our storage shed which we have converted into their dog house.
we have tried the bitter spray

i have this problem too. My APBT is 13 months and she just started chewing on her blanket and chewed a big hole in my blanket. she also used to chew wood and the tile floor in my kitchen. Use Bitter Yuk spray or put tabasco sauce and water in a spray bottle and use it. Mine rips thru a kong the black ones in like 3 days. Mine also gets exercise, socialazation and is trained. She chews my stuff out of spite sometimes i think.

How do I store Electronics????

wood storage shed 3 Comments »

I am leaving for the winter. The temperature gets below 0 degrees and sometimes -20. I have an outside storage shed with steel walls and roof, wood floor and no insulation. Just an average shed. I have 3 tv’s, a DVD surround sound combo, and more. Can I store them in the shed without them being damaged? I have a Tahoe, I was going to put all the electronics in there because I am leaving the Tahoe here, will that work considering the weather? I can’t leave them in my house! Any Ideas???

The temp shouldn’t hurt them (unless maybe a TV is an LCD), but hungry rodents sometimes like to chew on wire insulation. Inside the Tahoe should work fine, but it may get attacked for its wires, too. If there are any batteries, you’ll want to remove them from the devices to prevent freezing damage to them.

When you take them back inside, let them acclimate a day to the higher temperature before plugging them in and turning them on. The temperature shock could do physical damage and condensation could cause some shorts.

Is it possible to operate an electric clothes dryer without a vent?

wood storage shed 5 Comments »

There is already a washer in the kitchen. We would like to add our dryer because drying clothes on the line outside takes too long, during the cold weather season. I don’t have time to wait on clothes drying on a line.

Another thing I’ve considered is to have the washer and dryer in a storage shed. I haven’t tried to find a vent opening in the wall of the shed (it’s entirely wood). There is a small window, however.

If I do in fact, need a vent hole, how can I install one? We have a block construction house. It would be easier to create a vent hole in the storage shed (again, all wood).

Thank you.

Danger of fire, without a vent. Lint is flamable.

You can drill holes through walls with an outside vent cover. Flexible hoses are available.
A window is too high and lint will accumulate in the hose. Still flameable.

Also, there are inside lint containers which you may find at Lowes or Home Depot.

I live in a trailor park – Hidden Lakes in Streetsboro OH, what is the best way to go about selling? ?

wood storage shed 2 Comments »

Looking to sell asap… it’s 3bdr 2 full bath 16 X 76 washer, dryer, fridge stove all included, central air, 8 X 10 deck, ramp – wheelchair accessible, outdoor storage shed, carpet is 2 years old, kitchen flooring is new too. Nice lot runs against the wood. Would like to get around $30,000. Any ideas on how to sell quickly?

Talk to an agent that sells trailers. You may also hunt down a lender that will lend yourself, that is the biggest obstacle to selling a trailer, no one can get a loan to buy one.

Okay, I want to turn a garden shed, or ‘workshop’ into a chicken coop….where can I get the cheapest sheds?

wood storage shed 4 Comments »

Instead of building a big wood chicken coop…I want to just buy a shed/garden storage, and convert it to a chicken coop…so where can I find the best deals on them…I can’t afford anything over $1000, and preferably not over $800. Has to be atleast 8′x8′, pressure treated wood, sturdy, etc. I’m in Charlotte, NC

Thanks
I don’t like any of the chicken coops online, they are way too small, & have little or on access. I want something kind of like a mini barn…so that I can go in their with the chickens & I want to store their food in their.

Why convert a shed? Buy a chicken coop!

They are all over the ‘Net, just do a search.

Cheap and Simple Storage Solutions For My Condo???

wood storage shed 4 Comments »

I am moving into a condo soon, and when it comes to built in storage, there’s one master closet, and one closet in the second bedroom – that’s IT. There’s a whole gamut of small stuff to be stored. However, there’s a good sized private backyard and I’m considering fashioning a simple wood framework and covering it with tarp (cheap makeshift shed if you will). Anybody have any thoughts for me?
Added: I would love to downsize, and as a matter of fact, "I" keep my personal effects small. It’s really my girlfriend who won’t downsize, so it’s mainly her stuff we’ll be storing.

Have legs on beds in both bedroom raised; store under bed.
Have tall portable coat closet, stack boxes in there without the clothes rod.
